OUR TEAM

DEREK DESTEFANO

Founder / Coach

Born and raised in Meriden, Derek began running during his Sophomore year at Platt High School. 18 years later, Derek Destefano has ran in over 100 road races and events, ranging from the Mile, 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon, and Ultra Races. "Running has become a way of life, a way to test the limits of the human body. I am grateful to be able to run but now also to have the ability to show our community the benefits running has to offer!"

Today, Derek continues to run while also coaching Cross Country and Track & Field at Maloney High School.

"I created the Meriden Running Club in 2018 originally as a way to show and connect our community to a sport I love. I believe running can impact those around us in so many positive ways including mentally and physically; like it has done for myself."

"Believe In The Run"

JOSEPH MIGLIORE

Coach / Motivator

Currently 42 years old, Joey started running at the age of 35. Joey was motivated by poor health but since then has run half marathons and marathons in Yosemite Zion National Park, NYC, Hartford, and Miami, while respectively placing in his age group. Joey approaches running and life everyday with a "No Days Off" mentality. "I am grateful for every run; running reduces your life to the step in front of your face and forces you to be present in the moment which is something we can all work on."
